How to choose a shelf bracket for your shelf?

Floating shelf bracket is what give a floating shelf an ability to fix on wall float. As well as to hold the keepsakes, plants, books, televisions, or whatever it is you wanted to place on it. If you choose the wrong shelf hardware, the process will become much more difficult and much less adaptable to what you will place on shelf bracket. 1 What size shelf bracket would I use?

Shelf brackets range in size from 5 inches length (normally used for shelves holding paperback books) to 24 inches (designed supports for desktops and other large spaces). Plan to use brackets that are just a bit shorter than the depth of the shelves. For example, if you want shelves that are 12 inches deep, use 9-inch brackets.

If your studs are spaced 24 inches apart, plan to attach a standard to each stud. Shelves should overhang the side brackets by no more than 6 inches. Then you need at least 5 shelf bracket hardware. If the wood is about 7inch, then you need choose a 7.25’’ L shelf bracket with lip. But for the invisible shelf bracket, you may just need a 6inch one. 

2 How to install a shelf bracket?

1. Before beginning, confirm the bracket and shelf are the correct size and fit together. Identify necessary bolts and hardware needed for specific project. 
2. Determining where you'd like the shelf. Place a long piece of masking tape horizontally along the wall, spanning the length of your piece of wood shelf.(this also gives a great visual of how your shelves will look before making the commitment!)Using a level, mark a level line along the tape.
3. Locate the studs in the wall and mark the studs along the level line. (Not able to locate studs? Use recommended toggle bolt anchors instead)  
4. Pre-drill a hole where your level line and your studs intersect (pre-drilling also helps the lag bolt go in smoothly and reduces likelihood of bolt head breaking)
5. Remove all masking tape from the wall.
6. Install the brackets with the provided bolts using a wrench or socket. 
7. Place your wood onto the brackets. (L brackets require wood screwed directly onto bracket arm, we recommend pre-drilling the shelf for this installation). 
 

3 How much weight can a shelf bracket hold?

Shelf Bracket can hold a lot of weight—if it is done right. Like anywhere from 25lbs to well over 300lbs. That is a big range. So here's a quick down-low, the answer to this question is essentially based on a sliding scale of factors. Some factors increase the weight capacity of your floating shelf, some decrease it.
